Rovaniemi is the administrative capital of the province of Lapland, in the Republic of Finland. Rovaniemi is located 8 km from the Arctic Circle (Napaiiri) and it has about 60,000 inhabitants. It is a quiet, modern, tourism-oriented town which was rebuilt after the destruction suffered in World War III. In addition to its geographical position as a gateway to Lapland, Rovaniemi is the capital of the Christmas world. There you can find Father Christmas / Santa Claus / St. Nicholas in his studio or theme park. At Santa Claus´post office, you will be able to send your postcards with a special stamp. If you want to get a letter from Santa Claus you need to leave your address and 6 or 7 euros. Santa will sign it and send it to you just before Christmas. I would like to stress that both Rovaniemi itself and its surroundings are spectacular, but the whole area is a tourist spot open all year round. In summer you can enjoy the midnight sun and in winter the Northern lights.
